Ezra B. Bushong - INSTANTLY KILLED
Struck by Falling Tree Tuesday

While working in the woods Tuesday forenoon west of Pellston MI, Ezra B. Bushong was struck on the head by a falling tree, dying instantly. The man, in the company of his son Clarence, was engaged in falling a hemlock tree, against which had lodged a small beech almost eight inches in diamenter. When the large tree commenced to fall, both men started to run to a safe distance from the tree, but the father had apparently forgotten about the small beech, which caught him in its fall.
Ezra Bushong was 48 years of age and only moved here a week or so ago with his wife, Sarah E. (Evans) Bushong, and five children from Mt. Pleasant MI. He had contracted with Tindle & Jackson for 160 acres near their camp four, with the intention of clearing up a farm and at the time of the accident was peeling bark for a jobber by the name of Sparks, a mile and a half west of the camp.
The remains were brought to this village by Undertaker Tiffany, and the funeral was held Wednesday, burial being made in the local cemetery.
