The brigantine "Mary Celeste" was lost with all hands, including her, her father, Captain Benjamin S. Briggs (1835-1872), and her mother, Sarah (1841-1872), in November 1872. The empty ship was located half way between the Azore Islands and the coast of Portugal on December 4, 1872. A cenotaph stands in the Evergreen Cemetery, Marion, Massachusetts, in memory of her and her parents, "Lost in Brig Mary Celeste."
