Hilton was the son of H. M. "Bill" Baxter and his wife, Alta Boswell Baxter. He passed away at a hospital in Abilene following an illness after being taken to the hospital from his home at Lytle Lake. He was survived by his parents and a nine-year-old sister, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Baxter of Ballinger.
Funeral services were held at Southside Baptist Church in Abilene.
