The son of Edward "Neddy" Parrish and Elizabeth Harbert Parrish of Mannington, Marion Co., West Virginia. He had a sister, Olive Josephine Parrish Cunningham. He married Diadama May Elizabeth Parrish, daughter of Daniel T. & Amelia Virginia Cochran Parrish, on November 7, 1896 in Marion Co., West Virginia. They lived in Warriors Fork area of Mannington, West Virginia. They had four children, Bessie Virgie Parrish Snider, Esta Pearl Parrish Ice, Archel Ray Parrish and Edward Lee Daniel Parrish.

Benjamin was a very frugal man and had his hand in several business ventures. He expanded his homestead to alittle over 100 acres including the Straight House. He leased out the mineral rights on part of his land in the late 1940's for oil. He also owned four small grocery stores in Marion County, which the family all shared in the operation.

Benjamin & Diadama celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1946 at their home in Warriors Fork with all of their children and some of their grandchildren in attendence. They both died in March 1955, 9 days apart.
