He was a 22 year U.S. Marines Corps veteran serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars where he worked as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. In 1986 he moved from Jacksonville, NC to Hernando, Florida. After his retirement from the Marine Corps he worked in the diesel mechanic maintenance industry and built boats for Chris Craft Corp. He was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto, Florida, the Marine Corps Engineer Association, Jacksonville, Florida and VFW Post 4252, Hernando, Florida. He enjoyed saltwater fishing and boating.
