Killed in action from rocket fragment wounds.
PFC Gorrera left the Roland Park Jr. High School in January 1967 to work as a finisher for a local jewelry manufacturer. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17 and had been in Vietnam since June of 1968.
He is survived by his parents, Mrs. Audrey A. Gover & Mr. George M. Gorrera Sr., three sisters and one brother.
PFC Gorrera enlisted in the Marines 18 January 1968 in Baltimore,MD. He arrived in Vietnam 17 July 1968.
PFC Gorrera and another Marine died during a squad ambush, about 1300H 20 kilometers south of Khe Sanh Airfield. While engaged with enemy forces a rockect propelled grenade was fired at the squad. PFC Gorrera died as a result of fragmentation wounds. Survived by his step-father and mother; William & Ann Audrey Gover and his father; George M Gorrera Sr,all of Baltimore,MD.
