Services for J.C. Jonas, age 84, of Jacksonville, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with the Bro. Buddy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Corine Cemetery.

Mr. Jonas died Oct. 9, 2009.

He was born in Conroe. He had resided in the Jacksonville area since 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Baptist.

Mr. Jonas was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Lee and Margaret Elizabeth Conner Jonas; his wife, Dollie Jonas; sister, Ernie Smith; and son-in-law, Eugene Simmons.

Mr. Jonas is survived by his daughter, Linda Simmons, Jacksonville; sister and her husband, Loyce and Joe Max Lanier of Rusk; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cindy and Greg Allen, Richie and Kim Simmons; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Allen and Colton Allen, all of Jacksonville; a nephew, James Walker of Jacksonville as well as other nieces, nephews and family members; and special friends, Gwen Stafford and Ricky Franklin, both of Jacksonville.

Pallbearers will be Dale Stewart, Rex Pugh, Ron Boren, Ricky Franklin, Leland LeBlanc and Freddie Carroll. Don Walker will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Corine Cemetery Fund, c/o Dale Stewart, 5415 County Road 3305, Jacksonville, 75766.
