There are no readable dates on this tombstone for Elizabeth, wife of Elijah Ash. The Manchester Cemetery reading done by Morgan Area Genealogy Association says she was buried in this cemetery, and that she was 46 years old when she died. Since her widower, Elijah Ash, remarried in April of 1845, Elizabeth must have been born in 1798 or 1799. In the 1880 Census, her sons William Wallace and John Wesley each said that their mother was born in Kentucky.

Elizabeth was first married to Thomas Thacker, and had three children. One was Zachariah Thacker, who married Nancy M. Walker and lived in Macoupin County, Illinois. In his biography in the 1879 Macoupin County History, he mentions two siblings, but doesn't give their names.

Thomas Thacker died, and Elizabeth returned to Kentucky to live with her relatives. She married Elijah Ash 21 December 1823 in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, and they returned to Illinois, living in Morgan County. They were parents of 9 children: Israel, husband of Martha Jane Perkins; Eliza Jane, who died young and is also buried in this cemetery; Amos R., who first married Elizabeth Ann Bradley and after she died Emmaline Day; William Wallace, husband of Elizabeth Ann America Grumley; James Monroe; John Wesley, husband of Tabitha Ann Fitzjarrel; Nancy Delilah, wife of James M. Casey; and Margaret E., who married Frederick E. Courier.
