Ex-Norfolkan, Karen Alexander is dead at 43
Services for Mrs. Kenneth Alexander, 43,
Grand Island, the former Karen K. Kohler of
Norfolk, were conducted Sept 8 at 10:30 a.m.
at Third City Christian Church in Grand
Island. The Rev. Tom Hepner officiated, and
burial was in Union Cemetery, Battle Creek.
The Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home, Grand
Island, was in charge.
Mrs. Alexander, who had not been well five
years, died Sept. 5 at her home in Grand
Island. She was born September 13, 1943, at
Norfolk to Everett and Verna Carrico Kohler.
She was graduated from Norfolk High School
and Norfolk Junior College, and received her
bachelor's and master's degrees from Kearney
State College.
She married Kenneth Alexander on June 2,
1963, at Norfolk. They resided at Innavale,
Hastings, Doniphan and Grand Island. Mrs.
Alexander was employed by Educational Unit
#9 at Hastings for 14 years.
She was a member of Third City Christian
Church and was president of the women's Joy
Group in the church. She was also a member
of educational associations and of VFW
Auxiliary 1644 in Norfolk.
Surviving are her husband; three sons and
one daughter, Mark of Salem, Ore., Nathan of
Arlington, Texas, Shawn and Tammi, both at
home; two grandsons; her mother, Mrs. Verna
Kohler of Norfolk, and one brother, Samuel
Kohler of Norfolk. She was preceded in death
by her father.
