Ellis married Alma 'Lois' Jones, the daughter of Mary Elizabeth 'Bessie' Cade Jones, in late 1920 or early 1921. Their son Stanley Milton was born on November 20, 1921 in Norman, Cleveland County Oklahoma. In 1924, their daughter Frances M. was born in Texas.

According to the 1930 Census, they were living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. They were listed as lodgers along with 42 other lodgers.
