She enrolled at Hampton Institute in a four-year course of Home Economics, and graduated in June 1925, in the same class with her friend Charles E. Gwynn.
In the Fall of 1925-1926, she taught the 3rd grade in a county school in Wake Forrest, VA., and from 1926 to 1928, she taught the 4th grade at Fessenden Academy, Ocala, Florida. It was here that she re-joined her Hampton Institute classmate and friend, and they were married September 28, 1926.
In 1928-1929 she and her husband taught at Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, Florida. From 1929 to 1932, they were together at Allen University, Columbia, S. C. From 1934 to 1935 they worked together at the Glen Burnie, MD. training school for girls, where she taught Home Economics and Domestic Science, and was the Matron.
After 1935 she gave her full time to her family as a devoted wife and mother.
Eleanor Solomon Gwynn passed away suddenly, on the morning of Monday, September 20, 1943, in Baltimore, MD., leaving her husband Charles E. Gwynn, and their four sons and three daughters, namely: Charles, Jr., Harold, Doris, Donald, Arlene, Barbara, and Horace. The children's ages (in order named) are 14, 12, 11, 8, 6, 3, and 6 months.
She is greatly mourned by her family, her seven sisters and five brothers, her relatives, neighbors, and many friends.
