On this date 66 years ago --Oct. 4, 1948 -- Cleveland player-manager Lou Boudreau went 4 for 4, including two homers, to power the Indians to an 8-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the do-or-die playoff for the American League pennant. Happy Birthday, Mr. Boudreau. You were, are, and will always represent everything which is right with the national pastime. You were equally successful as both a player and manager, and helped to revolutionize strategy in the game. It would have been the greatest honor to meet and work with you. May God continue to bless and watch over you and those you love then, now, and always. RIP
