Henry Sloas was arrested with his brother-Jesse Sloas, son-Franklin Sloas, and nephew John Sloas. John Sloas enlisted in Company F, 11th Ohio Cavalry for service against the Indians along the Overland Trail in the Dakota Territory, probably to insure the treatment of father, uncle, and cousin. His cousin, Franklin, died of Typhoid on 1 July 1863 and John Sloas deserted the next day.
