She was born in Hamilton County Ind, daughter of Leonard and Flossie (Hiatt) Smith and moved to Battle Creek in 1924.
She attended the Evangelical Friends Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard B. Carnell, in 1964, a son Bernard Carnell, in 1969. She is survived by daughters, Evelyn Blanchard, Frances Latshaw and Jean Beatty, all of Battle Creek; sons, Wayne Carnell, of Battle Creek and Jim Carnell of West Germany; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be a 1 p.m. Friday at Farley-Estes Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to any charitable organization.
