April Lucille Mefford Mason, 61, of Weston, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at St. John's Hospital, in Leavenworth, KS.
Lucy was born April 3, 1949, in Wise, Virginia, to Benjamin and Violet Myrtle (Kilgore) Mefford. She was a lifelong resident of Weston. Lucy married Marion Frankie Mason on April 8, 1967 in Weston. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and Women's Guild. Lucy worked for over twenty years as a court reporter at the Kansas City Federal Courthouse, retiring in 2000. She loved her family, taking an active role in PTA, school functions, and Boy Scouts. Lucy was particularly fond of her grandchildren.
Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Mefford and two brothers, David Ray and Leonard Mefford.
She is survived by her mother, Violet Myrtle Mefford of Platte City, MO; three daughters, Sherrie Craig (Troy) of Leavenworth, KS, April Mason-Carter (Demarco) of Gladstone, MO, and Holly Vaughn (Jason) of Parkville, MO; five brothers, Benjamin Mefford (Jenny) of Derbyshire, England, Roger Dale Mefford (Mary Lee) of Muncie, IN, Benjamin H. Mefford, Jr. (Linda) of Weston, Jay Mefford, and Mark Mefford; three sisters, Brinda Blackburn (Jack) of Galt, MO, Rose Braley, and Bonnie Roberts (Mike) of Atchison, KS; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2010; with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary, at Vaughn Funeral Home, in Weston. Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Weston. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
