WEST DES MOINES - Jane Esther (Madison) Birmingham, 82, passed away at Bright Kavanagh Hospice House on Sunday, August 8, 2010.
She was born to George and Junie Catherine Madison, the eighth child of 12, on June 22, 1928 in Parkersburg, IA. After moving to Des Moines the family grew up on the south side where she met and married the love of her life, Floyd E. Birmingham on January 22, 1946.
Jane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always ready to lend a hand to all her family. She loved to garden and work in the yard, dancing to country music, eating strawberries, playing cards, and was always ready with a lovely smile.
She is survived by her son, James (Lois) Birmingham; three daughters, Suzie Martin, Janel (Dick) Bothe, Shelley (Stacy) Seely; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Larry) Hatcher; five brothers, John, Chuck, Jim, Dan Madison and Ray Anderson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be directed to Bright Kavanagh Hospice House.
