It was a long time ago when I spoke with you in a small café on Martha's Vineyard. I've met many people in my life, but you are the one I will always remember. What a wonderful person, Merry Christmas.

When I was a little girl I remember my father used to often tell his children how he used to love to play in the creeks in the summer time at Packard, KY with a beautiful girl who would grow up to be a movie star, I used to think he was just telling tales until I learned his stories were in fact true....My father has since passed as well, also from cancer back in 2009, he is buried in a cemetery just down the road from where the old coal mine town of Packard, KY once used to be & Patricia's mother is buried a few miles on down the road as well..... Recently, I drove the old grassy non paved road back into Packard, KY & the views of the land was just amazing though nothing remains there, no buildings nor anything that would ever hint there had once been a thriving small town there or that a beautiful, famous movie star had been born there.....My father named his first child a daughter born in 1953, after Patricia as he never forgot the girl that he spent some of his childhood with in these forgotten to time Kentucky mountains.

It's been such an anxiety-ridden, sacrificing, all-the-giving year, especially the past 6 months, because of money. As always, reading your autobiography helped me a great deal. I just put it down. Reading of your lovely Tennessee childhood, then how you overcame your stroke and divorce gave me peace and strength. How you lived your life and wrote it down is such a gift of the example of strength and faith in God, to all who read about you. Red roses for your courage, and how you DID (As Your Mother at Regina Laudis told you) find flowers among the thorns. (Fertility in the rot.) Also: A Christmas gift. I so loved, as an actress and a human being (and now as a wife) to hear you say, "Flowers, in the dead of winter!"Merry Christmas and Much Love!

Pat, You were so lovely, and so gifted. I really loved your work, especially in The Subject was Roses, Hud, and A Face in the Crowd. An accomplished actress, and a beautiful Southern girl. So sorry to have lost you, although we still have all those wonderful performances. We really did love you. I loved your laugh, and your voice, and your sweet face, everything about you. I hope that you had a happy life. We remember you so fondly. RIP
