Clarence served as a Sergeant in the 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and was a member of the Maryland National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 3, 1941, prior to the war, from Annapolis, Maryland. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Hospital Attendant and also as Divorced, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" in France during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
