Edgar A. Jenkins
Edgar Allen Jenkins was born August 30,1884,near West plain,Missouri.he was the son of the late John A. and Martha (Matthews) Jenkins.When Edgar was about eight years old,the family moved by oxen and wagon to the logging area of Shannon County,Missouri,and six years later the family came to Benton County to make their home.When a young man of twenty one he homesteaded land in the Cimmaron country of Oklahoma.Except for that period and a short time in Denver and Los Angles,he spent the remainder of his life in the Warsaw,Missouri and Lincoln,Missouri Community that he loved so well. in 1915 he chose as his bride Zona Glines,and to this union four children wre born - twin sons who died in infancy of 1916 ,Robert (Bob) Jenkins of near Lincoln,Missouri,and Lillian (Jenkins) Deftereos of Sacramento,Calfornia.One sister,Mrs Will Morgan of Chilhowee,Missouri,preceded him in death last year.He leaves two sisters ,Mrs.Ethle Cooke of rural Warsaw,Missouri and Mrs.cora McGranahan of Boliver,Missouri,a number of nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.He was loved by old and young for his ever-present cheerful frienfliness and will be remembered as a good neighbor and friend and a loving husband and father.Funeral service wwere held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.Sept.21,1966 at Fred davis & Son Funeral Home in Lincoln,Missouri with the Rev E.O. Farier officiating.Mr Herschel Hansen was soloist with Mrs.Evelyn Gardner as organist.Pallbearers were:James Willard,Roy Morgan,Allen Morgan,Carl Cooke,Dan Heizman,John Heizman.Burial was made in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor,Missouri.
