In 1920 she, her parents, her sister, and a boarder, 22-year-old Benton H Silverthorn, lived in a house they were renting at 1740 West Twelfth Street in Mill Creek Township, Erie County, PA. Her father worked as a machinist at a rubber works, and Benton as a laborer in a factory.

In 1930 she and her parents and her sister lived in a house they owned at 1341 West 21st Street in Erie, PA. Their home was valued at $4000, and they did have a radio. Her father worked as a machine welder.
