Funeral services for Army Spec. Troy Michael Wedgwood who died on Monday, March 4 at age 22 while serving as a U.S. Army soldier in Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait have been planned for next Saturday.
Wedgwood, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, who was born to Robert E. and Diane (Blevins) Wedgwood on January 19, 1969 in The Dalles. He attended Joseph G. Wilson Grade School and graduated from The Dalles High School with the Class of 1987. After graduation he worked for Northwest Aluminum, prior to joining the U.S. Army on Jan. 10, 1989. He married Tammy Jones on May 12, 1990 in The Dalles. They made their home in Manhatten, Kan. near Fort Reilly. While Troy was stationed in the Persian Gulf, Tammy returned home to The Dalles.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy, The Dalles; his father, Robert E. Wedgwood, Portland; his mother Diane Wedgwood, The Dalles; his sister, Tracey Wedgwood, Portland; a half-sister, Kelly Wedgwood, Longview, Texas; grandmothers, Audrey Blevins, Casper, Wyo.; Josie Wedgwood, Goldendale, Wash.; father and mother-in-law, LaMont and Cheryl Jones, The Dalles; brothers-in-law, LaMont E. Jones, The Dalles; and Perry A. Jones, Portland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. at The Dalles Gateway Presbyterian Church with Pastor James Hazlett and Rev. John Ricards officiating. Full U.S. Army military services will follow at The Dalles Parklawn Cemetery. Honorary casketbearers will be Jeff McDonald and Ryan Bessette. Active casketbearers will be Ty Tibbets, Tom McDonald, LaMont Jones Jr., Kevin Devlaeminck, Mike Carter and Perry Jones.
Memorials may be made to the Troy Wedgwood Memorial Fund in care of Columbia River Bank in The Dalles. Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in care of all arrangements.
