He was born on April 23, 1924, in Cismont, Virginia, a son of the late George Bowles and Estell Bates.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, George Bowles Jr. and Donald Bates; three sisters, Christabelle Anderson, Josephine Douglas and Louise Ragland; a son Anthony Bowles; two grandsons and one great- granddaughter, Jayla Lee.
Albert received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy after serving in World War II. After his military service, he was employed by Morton Foods and later retired from Sperry Marine, after 10 plus years of service. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending time working in his garden, riding his lawn mower, keeping his lawn well groomed and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Pansy Bowles; four daughters, Joyce Ann Scott, Aundria Blair, Kim Hale, Sandra Baker; one son, Albert Bowles Jr.; 27 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends that he loved dearly, seven stepchildren, three sisters and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Union Run Baptist Church in Keswick, Virginia.
