He was the son of James Morris and Nellie Lena Ripley Sam. He is survived by the mother of his children, Louise Sam, of Clinton; four sons and two daughters-in-law, James Ray Sam, Long Beach, CA, Randell Sam of McAlester, Clifford Jr. and Sandra Sam of Oklahoma City, and Anthony Sr. and Lucinda Sam of El Reno; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Sam of McAlester and Mia Marisa Sam and Darrel Tiger of El Reno. Five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Cornelius and Norma Sam of Red Oak, Louie and Virginia Sam of McAlester, Marvin Sam of Oklahoma City and Virgil and Bessie Sam and Mario Sam, all of McAlester. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jimmy Wendell Sam in 2001.
