Military services will be held for SP/4 Ronald Eugene Newell, 20, Saturday at 2
p.m. in the Mainsville United Brethren Church. SP/4 Newell was the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert K. Newell, Shippensburg R.D. 4. He was killed n action in
Vietnam on July 7.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Van Scyoc Funeral Home, 112 West King
St., Shippensburg. Rev. J. Raymond Brant, his pastor, will officiate and burial
will be in the Cleversburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after
7 p.m. Friday.

His parents received a telegram on Sunday stating that their son was killed in action.

Ronald was born Nov. 6, 1948 in Shippensburg. He attended the Shippensburg Area
Senior High School and prior to entering the service he was employed at the
Bogar Lumber Company in Shippensburg. He was engaged to Miss Saundra Shew of
Fort Loudon.

He received his basic training at Fort Knox, KY, and was home on a furlough
before going to Vietnam. He had been there for eight months and three days
before being killed in action.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by these brothers and sisters, Mrs.
Linda Varner, Shippensburg; Robert K. Newell Jr., Newville; Barbara J., John A.,
Anna M., Rodger L., Sandra K., Christine M., Audrey E., Valerie L., Brian R. and
Betty Jane, all at home and his grandfather, Charles B. Newell, Orrstown.
