Candler---Raphael Charles "Red" Parris, 81, of 41 Hartshorn Drive, died Thursday Oct 23 1997, at Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness.
A Native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired from Harry's Cadillac with 32 years of service as a body and fender man. He was a World War 11 veteran having served with the 1906th Engineers Aviation Battallon. He was the son of the late William Marion and Jessie Dollie Ammons Parris.
Surviving are his wife, Lillian Cornelia Ball Parris of the home, daughter Nancy Ball Gentry of Balsam and Drenda Parris Ingram of Austin, Texas; son Jerry Wayne Ball of Fletcher.brothers, Paul Franklin Parris, of Asheville, William Marion Parris, Jr. and Rex Parris , both of Alexander; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Higgins officiating.
Pallbeares will be Carroll Gentry,Jr. Roger Gentry, Jeffrey Ball, Leroy Oliphant, Eugene Brisco and Tim Brooks.
The Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Anders Rice Funeral Home , and at other times will be at the home.
