According to the 5 September 1884 issue of Weekly Graphic newspaper of Kirksville, Missouri, Daniel Truitt was born at Salisbury, Worcester County, Maryland on 17 October 1798 to George and Elizabeth (Parker) Truitt. He died at his home in Liberty Township, Adair County, Missouri at the age of 85 years, ten months and 17 days. He was survived by his wife and ten children. For the last few years of his life he had been "greatly afflicted" and "confined to his room for some months".
The funeral was conducted by Reverend Williams.
