Madiline M. Pirkle
Services for Madiline M. Pirkle of Davis were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Davis with Pastor Ben Williams officiating.
Madiline was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Davis to the late Joe and Maude (Lannom) Martin. She passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, in Davis at the age of 88 years, nine months and five days. Madiline and Thurmond B. Pirkle were married on July 16, 1942, in Davis. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1991. Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Happy and Billy Martin, and two sisters, Clara Graham and Trixie King.
Madiline was a devoted mother and homemaker. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, spending the summers with her grandchildren and working in her yard. She also enjoyed other hobbies like shopping, playing bridge and Mah Jongg. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Davis.
Madiline is survived by one son, Joe B. Pirkle and wife, Barbara, of Davis; four grandchildren, Andy Pirkle and wife, Sharon, of Monterey Park, Calif., Sarah Manley and husband, Jim, of Kansas City, Mo., Sean McNeil of Irvine, Calif., and Machele McNeil of Torrance, Calif.; four greatgrandchildren, Mollie Pirkle and Harper, Beckett and Sloan Manley; sister-in-law, Irene Wolf of Davis, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Joe Bob Drake, Wayne and Allen Carlton, J.C. and Richard Chadwick, Edd McNeil, Erik Wilson and D.O. Salter.
Services were entrusted to Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.
