DEATH ON THE RAIL
A Brakeman on the B. W. O. Ran
Over and Killed.

Watertown—Last Thursday evening
about nine o'clock and as conductor Bis -
aett's freight train moving north was nearing
Mannsville Henry Fairbanks, a brakeman on that
train left the caboose to set the brakes.
When the train reached the station Fairbanks
was missing and conductor Bisnett
started back on foot to find him. He was
found a short distance south of the vil-
lage and was alive. Mr. Bisnett sent the
caboose and engine back for him, took
him to Mannsville and called a
doctor. The physician said he could
not live and advised that he be taken to
Adams, his home. The train was started
again but the unfortunate man breathed
his last breath, as the engine blew for Pierrepont
Manor. The corpse was taken to Adams
and placed in the freight house. Superintendent
Van Home was informed of the
fatal accident and caused coroner Holbook
to be notified. Young Fairbanks
was 24 years old and well known at Adams,
where his father, Wm. Fairbanks
resides. While Mr. Travar acted as agent
at Adams he was his assistant. The accident is a
sad one and the family will not want for sympathizers.
