Betty Rae (Bush) Dorman, age 85, died peacefully Sunday morning, April 18, 2010 in Salt Lake City. She was born March 7, 1925 in Smoot to Glenn Ray Bush and Kate Cecil (Dray) Bush. She spent part of her childhood days in Smoot before growing up in Grays Lake (Wayan) and Soda Springs, Idaho. After graduating from Soda Springs High School, she met and married her first husband, Donald J. Peterson. They had a son Gary, who was her pride and joy. They were later divorced. Some time after that, while she was employed as the administrative assistant to the plant manager, for the Soda Springs Monsanto Chemical Plant, she met her second husband Robert K. Dorman, of Youngstown, Ohio. That meeting let to their marriage on August 2, 1952, lasting 50 years. There were many adventures and lots of moving. Eight years after their marriage, a daughter, Carrie Jean joined the family, another pride and joy. Betty spent countless hours reading, cooking, sewing knitting, painting, writing and making a home for her family. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church. She blessed the lives of all who were privileged to know her. For nearly 80 years Betty kept in touch with several of her Smoot friends, with letters and phone calls. After her husband Robert died, she stayed in North Carolina for a few years and then moved to Salt Lake City to be near her son Gary and his family. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, Glen and Kate Bush and her brother Ben Bush. She is survived by her son Gary B. Peterson and his wife Helen, a daughter Carrie Jean (Dorman) Bell, six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
