She was born January 16, 1943, in Parsons, to John and Winnogene "Pat" Schofield.
She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1961. She also graduated from Pittsburg State University with a degree in education.
From 1968 until her retirement in 1998 she was a business teacher at the Labette County High School in Altamont, with the exception of two years that she taught at the Mound Valley School.
From 1998 to 2005 she lived in Wichita, where she worked as a tour guide for Village Tour and Travel, especially loving to do the cruises. She cross stitched many baby quilts to give as gifts to friends all over the country. She enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
On July 5, 1969 she married Leroy Jones in Parsons.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Jones of the home; one daughter, Marti Shields and her husband Michael of Altamont; nine grandchildren, Ethan R. Shields (U.S. Marines, Camp Pendleton, CA); Kyle Shields of Parsons; Ryan Shields of Oswego; Kayla Shields of McCune; Derek Kellogg of Altamont; Trevor Kellogg of Altamont; Jordin Giefer of Altamont; Keri Smith of Altamont; Beth Umbarger of Parsons; one great-grandson, Chase Alan Daniels of McCune; one sister, Cindy Kelley of Overland Park; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 12, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date at the McCune Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday. Memorials are suggested to either the Labette Health Foundation or the American Cancer Society. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357
