Mrs. Hutchins, age 71, passed away Wednesday evening at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Willie Mae was born near Maypearl to William Newton and Willie Ethel Johnson Beard. She married Clarence Douglas Hutchins Nov 2, 1946 in Rockwall, Texas and was a loving homemaker. She was a resident of Maypearl where she was a member of the First Baptist Church being a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Willie was also a member of the New Hearts Club through Baylor Hospital in Dallas for heart transplant patients.
She was the 100th heart transplant patient at Baylor in Dallas, having her transplant on July 16, 1991.
She is survived by three sons, Clarence Douglas Hutchins, Jr., and his wife, Sandi of Irving, Johnnie Roy Hutchins and his wife, Theresa of Stephenville, and Thomas Michael Hutchins of Waxahachie; one daughter, Sherry Creech and her husband, Bobby of Maypearl; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Mildred Faye Byrd of Dallas, Catherine Ebert of Gun Barrel City, Ima Jean Williams of Nacogdoches, and Pattie Ruth Williams of Venus; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Bonnie and Buck Beard, and four sisters, Nela Nestrole, Georgia Beard, Pernia Beard, and Dorothy Beard.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec 26 at the First Baptist Church of Maypearl with Brother Tony Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow in the Maypearl Cemetery.
