Mrs. Oline Staggs Calvert passed away Friday, July 9, 2010, after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 18, 1923, in Florence, Alabama, where whe was a lifelong resident. She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, William Almon Calvert; mother, Ida Staggs; father, Leslie Staggs; sister, Letha Cody; and brothers, Edd Staggs and Dalton Staggs.
She is survived by sister, Bet Epping, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a faithful, lifelong member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Visitation was Sunday, July 11, at Elkins Funeral Home. She will lie in state at the First Free Will Baptist Church for an hour before the funeral at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Florence City Cemetery.
The family wiahes to thank all her best friends who gave her support in her last years, and also a special thanks to the staff of Green Oaks Inn.
