Mrs Lucy Snyder Brown

Mrs Lucy Snyder Brown, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Squires, Johnstown, at 8:45 o'clock Sunday night. Death followed a period of invalidism of more than four years.

Mrs. Brown was the the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Crandall) Miller and was born in South Valley, Otsego county, December 5, 1858. Her early life was spent in this county at Pleasant Brook and Oaksville. She was twice married. Her first husband was Irven Snyder of Toddsville, whose death occurred twenty-eight years ago. Her second husband was William Brown of Johnstown, who died three years ago. Mrs. Brown had lived in Johnstown for the past twenty-seven years. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Squires; and two sons, Floyd M. Snyder of Johnstown, and Daniel Snyder of Cooperstown. There also remain three sisters, Mrs. Ann Batsford of Groton; Mrs. Libbie Chapman of Nelliston; and Mrs. George Palmer of Fly Creek; and one brother, Charles Miller of Freeville. The grandchildren are Clarence and Harry Squires and Miss Lula Snyder, all of Johnstown; and Howard Snyder of Cooperstown, besides several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was a devout member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Johnstown, and also active in the work of the Johnstown W. C. T. U., of which she was a charter member. The funeral was largely attended from the Squires home Wednesday noon, the Rev. David Paton of Yonkers officiating, and the local unit of the W. C. T. U. had a part in the service. A profusion of floral tributes attested the high esteem in which she was held. The body was brought to Fly Creek for burial.
