When William David Misseldine was born on April 16, 1831, in Charleston, South Carolina, his father, Robert, was 22 and his mother, Matilda, was 18. He married Annie Jane Souls and they had six children together. He then married Sarah Ellen Freeman and they had 17 children together. He died on February 24, 1893, in Ramer, Alabama, at the age of 61, and was buried in Pisgah, Alabama.
