Asbury's father Samuel David (S.D.)Branson wrote in 1882 that his son 'Almon Asbury' married Sabre Dotson March 2, 1862. That "Asbury was a recruiting officer in the Union Army which position he held until his death, April 25, 1865." From the Baker family papers it was written that "Asbury a civil war vet who started home on sick leave from the army got to his Aunt Susan Baker's and died there and was carried in a cart to Grainger County to the Kitts Cemetery and buried." Note: Susan Baker was sister to S.D. - their parents David & Susannah (Boulton) Branson. Their grandparents Thomas and Jemima (Hammack) Boulton.
