My Paternal Grandfather,

Sam's parents sailed from England to America and arrived on May 6, 1851. He was born on Jan 2 1852. They left Ny. in 1857 and traveled to Ohio in a covered wagon with eleven children. In 1865 they moved to Illinois by a team and covered wagon.

Sam and his brother Fred had a "fallin out" with their other nine brothers and sisters so they moved to Galesburg. They disagreed with the rest of the family who demanded that a sister-in-law, along with her numerous children, leave the family farm because she did not have a husband to help support the family/farm.

Sam was retired as an engineer from Purington Brickyard in East Galesburg, IL. Husband of Josephine Bennell Heselden, and father of William Lyle Heselden.

Three daughters, Anna Heselden , Bessie Heselden, and Mary Fern Palmquist are buried in the same cemetery.
