In 1854 Daniel W. Camp was Treasurer for the State of Connecticut. Daniel was a trustee for the Wesleyan University in Middletown from 1855 to 1877 and also served as Treasurer for the University at the same time.

Daniel Camp was married twice: First, he married Laura Newton in 1837 and had two children, After she died, he married Sarah Toby and had two children.
