Born May 17, 1932, in Union Star, Missouri, she was a daughter of Henry J. and Elizabeth Nickols Taube.
Mrs. Elkins was reared and received her early education in Union Star, Missouri. She was a 1950 graduate of Union Star High School. Viola Taube married Ignatius W. Elkins, Sr. on August 2, 1951, in Pine Bluff. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Mrs. Elkins enjoyed sewing, reading, visiting nursing homes, and the elderly. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Mrs. Elkins was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Albert Taube.
Survivors include her spouse of 58 years, Ignatius W. "Iggie" Elkins, Sr. of Pine Bluff; four sons, Ignatius W. Elkins, Jr. of Bellevue, Nebraska, John J. Elkins of Pine Bluff, David C. Elkins of Hurley, Missouri, and Anthony E. Elkins of Pine Bluff; twelve grandchildren, Eric, Mathew, Michael, Chad, Jeffrey, Ashley, Emily, Lee, Cody, Lindy, Daniel, and Tony; one sister, Caroline Humphrey of Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.
The Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Warren Harvey celebrating. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son.
