I found this interesting news article about my great grandfather in the Seattle Daily Times, July 14, 1905Here is an interesting story about J.H. Dyck in the Seattle Times, July 14, 1905BOY ON BICYCLE STEALS FINE PUPJ.H. Dyck Had Just Sold Dog for $15 and Now He Mourns Loss of Both Loss of Both Money and Canine.J.H. Dyck of 833 Eight Avenue North, is looking for a boy about 15 years old who stolle a Gordon setter puppy from him on Pike Street yesterday afternoon and he thinks he will find him for there is not another pup in the city like this one. Mr. Dyck had sold the puppy to a merchant on Pike Street for $15 and was on his way to deliver the goods when a boy riding a bicycle swooped the puppy from the street and rode off with it.

Dear great grandfather John Herman,I've never met you but love you. I never met your daughter (my grandmother) because she died when her daughter (my mom) was only 19 years old. Someday I will have the great joy of meeting you both and your wife, Anna Barbara.
