Walter Hart was born on August 28, 1868 in West Weber, Utah to John Isaac Hart and Martha Barton. He was their second child.

He married Hannah Elizabeth Buck on March 28, 1888. They went on to have eight children: Walter, Violet, Charles, Jack, a stillborn daughter, Gilbert, Martha, and Ethel.

Walter never owned an automobile, always traveling on his faithful horse Bell.

He was a favorite among his grandchildren, being a very loving grandfather who always seemed to have a never-ending supply of peppermints and licorice sticks for them.

Walter was a quiet, honest, dedicated, industrious, hard-working man. He had a desire to improve and make everything for his family worthwhile, always doing his best for them. He was a religious man and believed that there was a plan and purpose for every person on earth.

Walter died on November 29. 1941 in the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
