The death of Mrs Patience, wife of John Martin, one of the oldest and must highly respected farmers residing near South Raub, occurred Monday at 7:30. Mrs Martin was 79 years old and had for years resided in the South Raub neighborhood. She was known throughout the entire country and the news of her death will be a shock to her many friends. She had been in poor health for some time past and her death was the result of a stroke of paralysis suffered a short time ago. She was a woman of sweet and noble traits and her kind administrations to the poor and needy were of a most generous nature. She was a kind and affectionate wife, a loving mother and a sympathetic and pleasant neighbor. The deceased was the mother of thirteen children, two daughters, Mrs Martin and Mrs Sarah Garrett, dying recently and another daughter dying when an infant. A husband and ten children survive Isaiah William, Daniel, David, John M, Albert and Mrs Ellen Hurdle, of South Raub; Benjamin, of Farmers Institute; Mrs Nathan Layton, of North Dakota, and Mrs Etta Ashley of Crane. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Mintonye Methodist church. Rev McCloud officiating. Interment in Mintonye Cemetery.
