Mr. Charles W. Bilderback, 72, of Michigan City, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at LaPorte Hospital.

He was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Boonville, Ind., to Willard and Marie Bilderback.

Mr. Bilderback retired as a carpenter in Chicago. He was a scout ranger for Camp Topenebee, Michigan City, for many years and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He had various interests, including reading, space travel, airplanes and antique/vintage sewing machines. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother, and will be missed by many.

On Aug. 18, 1979, in Michigan City, he married Patricia Dubois, who survives.

Also surviving are his stepmother, Louise of Paoli, Ind.; two daughters, Carrie (Jack) Trusty of Thompsonville, Ill., and Clarise Wroblewski of Michigan City; two sons, Carl (Tammy) of Portage and Charles A. (Marie) of Michigan City; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Holly, Heidi, C.J. and Casey Bilderback and Jamie Lynn and James John Wroblewski; five sisters, Bonnie Morrison of Florida, Winona Struss of LaPorte; LuAnn Martin of Paoli, Peggy Box of Indiana and Sharon McKinney of Tennessee; and two brothers, Gene of California and Carl of LaPorte.

His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, Michigan City, with Steve Laue officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, Ind.
