He is survived by his wife, Melinda, son Jim II (Susan), daughter Tracy, son Matthew, grandchildren Tanner, Gabriel, Madison, Manny, Max, and Jimmy III, and brother David J. Armbruster.
Jim graduated from Middletown High School in 1962 and was president and owner of Armbruster Florist, Inc., established in 1945. A humble man, Jim was known for engaging people across all social and political boundaries, serving on many local boards and commissions since the 1970's. He was a member of the City's Park Board for 11 years and was President from 1999 to 2005. Jim's love for the community culminated with his two-term election to Middletown's City Council, beginning November 2005, as the Ward 1 representative. He served as Vice Mayor during the years of 2008 and 2009. Jim's business acumen, coupled with his vision and political leadership, helped shape the community for future growth and prosperity. His efforts lead toward the enhancement of public safety, creation of business opportunities, and beautification of the city. The legacy of the Armbruster family's tradition remains everlasting through Jim's devotion to family and the cultivation of an improved livelihood for future generations.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
