Visitation for Henry Jans, 99, will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash. Service is planned for 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Vault burial will follow at Edwall (Wash.) Roman Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Jans, who was born in Portland, died Wednesday.

He graduated from Edwall High School in 1919. There he was a member of the Lincoln County championship basketball team.

Mr. Jans married Cecilia Hanlon in 1931.

He was a farmer in Sprague, until he retired in the early 1970s.

Mr. Jans was a member of the Lincoln County Wheat Growers Association.

His wife died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Donald Jans of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Marilyn Before of Great Falls, Mont., and Kay Walker of Vancouver, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gonzaga University Basketball Program.
