He was the son of Fred and Julia (Archer) Bender. He had worked at B. G. Mill and was a member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge, No. 22.
Survivors included his wife , Bernice; one daughter, Linda Jo Edwards; three sisters, Beulah Thomas, Gretchen Mackall and Ethel Reel; two brothers, Clyde and Wayne Bender; and three grandchildren.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and two sisters.
