He married Millie Murphy in Grapevine, Eastland Co, TX, on October 21, 1917. They had two sons, Obadiah & Ernest.
Around 1935 they moved to Del Rio, Val Verde Co, TX, where Ed was employed as a Conductor on the railroad. At the time of his death, Nov. 20, 1960, they were living at 501 Ave. C in Del Rio. Late at night, 11:30 p.m., he had a "Coronary Occlusion," which immediately led to death. He had lived 66 years, 10 months, & 28 days.
His son, Obie A. Thurman was the informant on his death certificate. His body was transported to Cisco for burial.
