HAROLD A. PORCH
Services for Harold A. (Happy) Porch, 55, RFD 2, who died Saturday at West Side Veterans hospital, Chicago, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wetmore Funeral home with the Rev. Howard Haberle, Hebron Assembly of God church, officiating. Burial will be in Westville cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
Born July 19, 1913 in Michigan City, Porch was the son of William E. and Sarah (Smith) Porch. He married Helen D. Lowe, who survives.
A 20-year employee of Gary works of U.S. Steel corporation, he was a member of the Steel Workers union. Porch was a member of the Valparaiso VFW Post and a World War II veteran.
Surviving besides his widow are four daughters, Mrs. James (Linda) Reynolds, Portage, Mrs. Phillip (Sharon) Strohl, Valparaiso, Mrs. Harry (Barbara) Eaton, Newark, Del., and Mrs. David (Carol) Kennedy, Lafayette, Calif.; two stepsons, Homer Newton, Portage, and William R. Newton, Michigan City; two sisters, Mrs. George (Ella) Carpenter and Mrs. Clyde (Edith) Johnson, both of Valparaiso; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, W. Ross Porch.
