Funeral services for Blanche Barnes Pennington, 77, will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Shiloh-Pinhook Methodist Church near Vernon, Ala. Burial will be in Shiloh-Pinhook Cemetery. She died Feb. 27, 2010 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

She was a native of Lamar County, Ala. where she attended public schools. She married Charles Reece Pennington on April 3, 1948, making their home in Columbus, Miss. In 1959, they moved to Greenville, Miss., where she was a beautician and homemaker. She was the last of seven siblings. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1991. She had been a resident of Cleveland Personal Care since 2005.

Survivors include daughter Diane P. Gordon, Linn, Miss., a son Chuck R. Pennington, Paducah, Ky., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.



Pallbearers will be grandsons Beau Gordon, Chris Pennington, Colby Pennington, Jeff Gunn, Marcus Boyles and Charles Johnson.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 1, 2010, 5 - 7 p.m. at Boone-Wells Funeral Home, Greenville, and 12:30 - 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh-Pinhook Methodist Church, Vernon, Ala.

The Rev. Al Hamm will officiate the service.
