Mrs. George W. AleshirePage Courier, Thursday 19 Jul 1906Good Woman Goes to Her RewardWe regret to record the death of Mrs. George W. Aleshire, which occurred very unexpectedly at her home near Stanley, last Saturday, July 14th. She had been in ill-health for some time, though no one though her condition so serious. Her husband at the time of her death was in Winchester, where he was being treated for cancer, and the sad news- which was broken to him as he descended the car steps at Stanley Saturday evening, was indeed a crushing blow to him!.. Mrs. Aleshire was a daughter of the late Abram Painter, a graduate of the Deaf, Dumb and Blind Institute at Staunton, and was a bright, cheerful woman, notwithstanding her great affliction- that of being blind all her life. She leaves a husband, three brothers- Messrs. John W., Jubal and Isaac Painter, and two sisters- Mrs. John Short and Mrs. Henry Petefish, all living near Stanley.
