Papi had a very wise saying. "Andando se quita el frio". It means keep moving, you'll stay warm. I believe that a lot of the most important messages my father taught me I learned the best, after he passed. As I revisited his wise thoughts in my adult life, I realized my dad was too special of a man to not share him with all of you in this online memorial.

He was a very special man.

Manuel Gutierrez was born in Cuba and emigrated to the US with his wife Herminia and his daughters. He had one daughter from a previous marriage as well, whom he loved, very, very much. In 1968, he and Herminia had a son who died in infancy. His memorial is on findagrave and that son is buried in California.

Manuel was laid to rest in the "Wren" section of Vista Gardens. Thank you to Amorifera for taking a picture of dad's grave marker, (wall crypt) and the picture of the front of8 Vista Memorial Gardens, were papi is interred.

My dad was a teacher. He taught ESL math at Hollenbeck Jr. High in East Los Angeles. He and mom moved to Miami in 1983.

He passed away from kidney failure and not a day goes by that we don't miss him. rest in blissful peace, Papi.

Dad's favorite saying was "Andando se quita el frio". It translates to "Keep moving, you will dispel the cold (stay warm". He had to keep moving and teaches me the wisdom of living this life by his example.
